History of Numata Optical Instruments
Numata Optical Instruments Factory Co., Ltd. was founded as a machining shop by our first President, Rokuro Numata, in Hasunuma, Itabashi in 1957. In the time ensuing, our factory was relocated to Maeno-cho, Itabashi and in 1962 was established as Numata Optical Instruments Factory Co., Ltd.
Rokuro also served as an executive of TOPCON.
In 1967 we constructed an RC factory and started the manufacture of parts using general purpose lathes and other automatic machinery. We were quick to introduce CNC lathes to our production facilities in the 1970s and these have formed the foundation for our current composite machining technologies. With the diversification of composite machining equipment, we expanded our premises in 2004 to make way for a range of three-dimensional equipment. In addition to optical microscopes, we also added a range of three-dimensional measuring equipment.
Specializing in ultra-precision cutting and fabrication of optical parts in Itabashi, the birthplace of optics in Japan, we have continued to refine our technologies to manufacture parts that best suit the applications of our clients and their clients further down the consumer chain. Since our foundation, our machining equipment has steadfastly maintained a level of precision and quality to a degree that some might call excessive. To the current day, this equipment watches over the quality at Numata Optical.
More than 60 years have passed pursuing ultra-high precision cutting technology as a pioneer in Itabashi, the birthplace of optics in Japan. We are constantly to incorporate the technologies and know-how we have accumulated in the field of optical equipment to a range of fields, including medical, environmental, IT, aircraft, motorcycles and automobiles. We take pride in being able to deliver products that derive the same level of satisfaction from all our clients. Because we are a company manufacturing parts, our clients have their own clients further down the consumer chain.
We often hear that people in the industry focus more on shorter lead times than cut marks. It has also been suggested that this is more efficient.
However, by providing a level of quality associated with “NUMATA” as a manufacturer of optical parts in the home of optics, Itabashi, we believe we can help clients cut unseen costs, such as reduction in yield in assembly processes, etc.
